Another thing I’ve noticed are people in the field with MBAs (only) running education companies. They tend to be very large and national, and have a process to train their tutors that is more scripted rather than based in an education background. NTPA folks I’ve met may have spent time in these behemoths, myself included, but we went the path less travelled, gained depth and knowledge, honed our mentoring, coaching and education savviness…way beyond the tests–even addressing more oblique needs of our clientele – – learning styles, neurodiversity, executive function support, and in our case, mindset enhancements for emotional regulation and test anxiety relief. It’s so beneficial for those hiring tutors to know who is on staff and at the helm — so they can truly get the service and support they seek!
